  • How it works

    This masterclass covers comprehensive training on all aspects of brewing espresso, from theory to practical skills, and mastery of milk steaming and pouring. You will learn about the theory of creating the perfect cup of coffee before diving into hands-on training.

  • Course Structure

    • Espresso Theory: Learn about key components like water quality, temperature, pressure, and grind size.
      - Practical Training: Hands-on demo covering equipment use, shot prep, and troubleshooting.
      - Shot Assessment: Understand the importance of prep steps like wiping the portafilter.
      - Grind Size: Learn how grind size affects flavour and how to adjust it.
      - Coaching: Practice under guidance to improve your skills.
    • Theoretical Latte Art Training:
      - Milk Theory: Introduction to aerating theory, ideal steaming temperate range, and understanding the steaming process.
      Practical Training:
      - Steaming Procedure: Demonstration of proper use of coffee machine and handling the steam wand - from purging, cleaning, and steaming.
      - Steaming Technique: Instruction on texturizing, stretching, and polishing milk for optimal foam.
      - Pouring Technique: Guidance on pouring distance, pitcher and cup angles, and creating contrast and symmetry in latte art.

    Courses need a minimum of 2 attendees to run.

    If the course has yet to reach maximum capacity, Urban Baristas reserve the right to change the booking date.

    With any unforeseen circumstances, Urban Baristas reserve the right to change the booking date or time. We will give you a minimum of 1 week's notice if the course needs to be rearranged.

    If you need to reschedule or cannot make your original booking date, we require 1 week's notice otherwise your booking fee may not be honoured.

CORPORATE MASTERCLASS:

This masterclass offers a deep dive into the craft of specialty coffee, covering everything from espresso theory to hands-on latte art. You'll begin by learning the science behind the perfect espresso shot, and explore how variables like water quality, temperature, pressure, and grind size all influence flavour.

Once you’ve mastered the theory, it’s time to get practical. You'll learn how to prep your portafilter, dial in your grind, and extract consistent, delicious shots. Along the way, you’ll receive guided coaching to troubleshoot issues and refine your technique.
Then, we move into the world of milk. You'll learn the theory behind milk aeration and temperature, before practising how to steam silky, textured milk and pour with control and confidence. From the basics of steaming to creating contrast and symmetry in latte art, this part of the session is where your creativity really comes to life.

By the end of the masterclass, you'll walk away with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills to elevate your coffee game.
